The course "Continuous Purification of Pharmaceuticals" focused the production of pharmaceuticals with small
The course based on the knowledge of the course "Fundamentals of Crystallization". The current
standard batch purification procedure is compared to innovative continuous production concepts, whereby the whole crystal
process chain will be discussed. Methods to prove the efficiency of each process step are taught and deepening exercises
will be done.
After successful completion of the course "Continuous Purification of Pharmaceuticals", the students are able
to design and analyze continuous processes. They can compare different apparatus concepts for continuous crystallizers,
solid liquid separation, and drying and can evaluate the best possible apparatus for the separation task. The students un-
derstand the dependencies between the individual units and can transfer these to new tasks.
