Course Content
The course presents simulation techniques for the creation of mass and energy balances of continu-ously operated manufacturing processes. Using selected processes from the chemical industry, the mathematical and numerical basics of balancing, such as different iteration methods and the respective convergence behavior, are explained. This is followed by an introduction to the basics of process simulation using the flowsheeting soft-ware Aspen Plus. With the help of this software, example processes will be set up successively so that students can learn how the various unit operations work. The content presented in the lecture will be applied by the stu-dents in independent exercises, whereby the solutions to the exercises will be presented and discussed in an online course.
