Cours Content

The course "Technical Chromatography" considers technical chromatographic processes starting from their selection up to computer-aided design and dimensioning for industrial scale. The course covers the fundamentals of linear and non-linear chromatography. Thermodynamic fundamentals and phase systems as well as process concepts and modeling of chromatographic processes are in focus. With the help of the simulation results from gPROMS®, the model-based design and optimization of chromatographic processes is explained.

Aquired competences

On the basis of the course "Technical Chromatography", the students are able to determine suitable conditions for technical problems in this separation process, e. g. choice of solvent and chromatography method. Furthermore model the separation processes and, on the basis of the simulation results, assess which product properties are likely to be produced under given conditions.
The students are able to transfer the acquired knowledge to solve complex tasks
