In the course "Simulation dynamischer Prozesse", basic knowledge of the dynamic simulation of complex processes is imparted using the example of a complete process. Theoretical basics of steady-state and dynamic simulation and modeling as well as systematic procedures for application are presented. The structure and syntax of the commercial software gPROMS will be presented and acquired in exercises. The exercises will focus on setting up models for the individual unit operations, balancing the components, linking the individual models to the overall process, and interpreting the simulation results in terms of process engineering perspective.
Students will be able to set up and expand model equations for a unit operation and process engineering operations with given assumptions for both steady-state and time and multidimensional differential equations. They can implement the equations in the program gPROMS. Furthermore, they can interpret error logs of the program and correct the respective errors. They are also able to connect different models with each other in order to interpret a process engineering overall process and to simulate it as a result of a schedule.
