Field of research: Tunable Aqueous Polymer Phase Impregnated Resins (TAPPIR®)- Technology - A novel approach for the separation and purification of biomolecules

Field of Research

Tunable Aqueous Polymer Phase Impregnated Resins (TAPPIR®)- Technology is a novel approach for the separation and purification of biomolecules. The TAPPIR®- Technology is based on the immobilization of one aqueous polymer phase inside the pores of a solid, while the second aqueous phase forms the bulk liquid around the impregnated solids. Thus it provides a biocompatible environment for biologically active molecules eliminating phase separation step and long settling times, which are limiting the industrial application of Aqueous Two Phase Extraction (ATPE). Aim of this work is the investigation of the TAPPIR®- Technology for downstream processing of proteins.
